Act According to the spirit of god.

Luke 9:55 Jesus turned to them, and rebuked them, saying: You do not know what spirit you are animated from.

Jesus had made the decision to go to Jerusalem, so he sent messengers to enter the Samaritan village to help prepare accommodations for Him. He was not received at this village because He was ultimately heading for Jerusalem. His disciples James and John, who wanted to defend him, said, "Lord, do you want us to command that fire comes down from heaven and consumes them?" Words of destruction and vengeance! Jesus turned to them and rebuked them, saying, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. Anger made them forget who they were, and they acted according to the flesh and not according to the Spirit of God. How many times do we forget who we are and let ourselves be guided by our feelings of anger, hatred, jealousy, resentment, or pride; causing great damage by words we speak and our behavior displayed? Jesus recalled his mission to his disciples by saying: He did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. As Christians, do our words or behavior attract souls to God or repel them? Let us remember who we are and whose we are. We are disciples of Jesus Christ, and we must act according to the Spirit of God.

Lord, we ask for your forgiveness for all our words, our behaviors, or thoughts that do not reflect the fruits of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22). Give us the strength, knowledge, and intelligence to walk according to your Spirit and not according to the flesh.

In the name of your son Jesus Christ.

Amen.
