John 11:39-40 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
The Book of John in Chapter 11 tells the story of a man who was sick, and this man was the friend of Jesus. His name is Lazarus. The Sisters of Lazarus sent someone to Jesus saying: your friend Lazarus whom you love is sick. Jesus said: This sickness is not to death; it is for the glory of God; may the Son of God may be glorified through it. This answer created hope for his sisters because they knew that Jesus has healed sick people. Jesus stayed two more days before going to Lazarus and Lazarus died which caused sadness and disappointment for his sisters. Expectation of the people and the sisters was Jesus will come to heal Lazarus and he will not die because Jesus said: this sickness is not to death. How can they continue to believe in Jesus, did the sisters of Lazarus Jesus lie to them? Is it all over now? Jesus arrives at the house of Lazarus and meets his sisters. Both declared to Jesus: if he was there their brother would not be dead. (John 11:21; 11:32). Jesus is late and now Lazarus is dead, it's all over. We must tell you with Jesus everything is not over. They believed in the healing of Lazarus but not in his resurrection. Lazarus has been dead for four (4) days already smelling bad and now there is no solution. But with God there is always a solution. Jesus told Martha to remove the stone but she said to him: Lord, he already smells bad for he has been there for four days. The stone fronting the tomb, was proof to Martha that it is final. Martha obeyed Jesus, removed the stone and Jesus resurrected Lazarus. The Sisters of Lazarus expected healing, but Jesus did something greater: the resurrection. What event in your life is indicating everything is over for you because you have no solution? The Sisters of Lazarus also believed that everything was over but they decided to believe in Jesus' word to remove the stone. Do you want to believe in God for the solution of your problems? Put your trust in God, remove doubt from your mind. God has the power to manifest His glory in your life. God can deliver you. He is still Almighty, he is the same yesterday, today and forever.
