God has the final say.

Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” Daniel 3:15

The Bible reveals in Chapter 3 of Daniel's book there was a man named Nebuchadnezzar who was king of Babylon. This king made an image of gold, whose height of sixty cubits and its width of six cubits. This king commanded to the peoples, nations, peoples of all languages! That at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery and all kinds of music, you will fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has setup; and whoever does not fall down, and worship will be cast immediately in the midst of a burning fiery furnace. (Daniel 3:4, 6). What order! What warning! What threat!

This warning was not from anyone. It came from a king who was powerful at that time. Such a threat could proceed to execution if it was not applied. This order created fear. All obey this order. The King speaks, it's over. The King's word is irrevocable. But there were Jews in this kingdom who did not want to respect the order of the king. They don't want to worship the image of gold, they know they must worship the true God. This threat will pass at execution because some Chaldeans reproached Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego saying: the Jews do not serve the gods of king and do not worship the image of gold.

In verse 15 of the Book of Daniel 3 The king calls back the order to these three Jews: "If they do not worship the image of gold, they will be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace." And believing that he is powerful, he has the final say, he has fortified his threat: Who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?

Face to this threat, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego should capitulate. The fiery furnace was there, they saw it. But they did not give up, they putted their trust in God. They know that God can protect them and even if He does not protect them they will not negotiate his name. Their answer is: Daniel 3:17,18 ". 17 If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” " What confidence! What conviction!

Face to a such answer, Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, he commanded to cast the Jews into the burning fiery furnace heated 7 times more. At the human eyes, it is the death of these men. The flame of fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. Fortunately, God has the final word.

God delivered Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, the fire had no power over the bodies of these men, their hair had not been burned, and the smell of fire was not on them. Nebuchadnezzar had asked: who is the god who will deliver you from my hand?

The gods of Nebuchadnezzar could not deliver these three Jews from the fiery furnace, they are limited but the God who create us, who creates the universe, the Almighty God, this God can deliver Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. He did it. God was with these three men. Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.

You are afraid, you are confused, you feel helpless, you are worried. God was with Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. He can be with you too. You can find Him by the intermediary of his Son Jesus Christ. John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Do you want God to have the last say on your life? You must trust him.

Amen.
