Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
A refuge is a place where someone who is being pursued or threatened can take shelter.
What or who we turn to in a difficult situation starts with whom we expect help or comfort from.
In this psalm the sons of Korah declare God is their refuge. Is God our refuge?
If God is our refuge, it must not be a simple phrase or just a slogan but it’s a way of life!
God is our refuge which means:
God can protect us from dangers.
Psalm 18:29 With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.
God is a safe refuge.
Psalm 118:9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
God can heal us from our illnesses.
John 11:4 When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
God can guide us in our times of darkness when we don't know what to do.
2 Chronicles 20:12 Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.
God loves us.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
God is greater than our greatest adversaries or greater than our greatest problems.
Psalm 46:10, 11 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
God will always be with us.
Matthew 28:20 AND teach them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.
God is always ready to welcome us.
Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
God is our refuge therefore place your trust in Him no matter what your challenges are for He will always be there for us. It is the best choice to make in our lives!
