Rely on God to regain courage.

David had taken refuge in the land of the Philistines because King Saul was seeking to kill him. At that time the Philistines formed an army to wage war against Israel. Achish asked David and his people to come to his army against Israel. David had agreed, but the princes of the Philistines became angry with Achish, demanding that he send David and his men back to where they were. David and his army returned to Ziklag, the city where they had left their families and their possessions. Arriving at the city, they found the Amelecites had destroyed everything, they had not killed anyone, but they had taken their wives, their daughters, their sons captive. Faced with this situation, David and the people who were with him were distraught, they cried a lot, until they no longer had the strength to cry. David was in great distress, because the people were talking about stoning him, because everyone had bitterness in their souls, each one because of his sons and his daughters. But David took courage by relying on God.

You too can be distraught, anxious, worried about what you see in the world. You are dejected, you are afraid, you don't know what to do. You have no more strength. David was in this situation. But he had made the right choice. He relied on God. Do you want to make this choice too? Do you also want to rely on God?

Relying on God: It is putting your life in the hands of God, it is placing your trust in God, not in yourself or anyone else. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own wisdom. Proverb 3:5.

Relying on God: It is recognizing that God is with you, you have nothing to fear, he can help you, he strengthens you. Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not look worried, for I am your God; I strengthen you, I come to your aid, I support you with my triumphant right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Relying on God: It’s not worrying. Do not worry about anything ; but in everything let your needs be made known to God by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7.

Relying on God: This is fixing your eyes on God, not on circumstances. O our God, will you not exercise your judgments on them? For we are powerless before this great multitude that comes against us, and we do not know what to do, but our eyes are fixed on you. 2 Chronicles 20:12

Relying on God: This is seeking God with all your heart. You will seek me, and you will find me, if you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

Relying on God: It is living to please God. I have been crucified with Christ; and if I live, it is no longer I who live, it is Christ who lives in me; If I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatian 2:20. Hebrews 11:6 tells us: But without faith it is impossible to please God.

Relying on God: It is living by faith. We walk by faith and not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

David relied on God for his strength. God delivered him and also all those who were with him, allowing them to defeat the Amalekites, to return to their families and their possessions. God had acted for David. He can also work for you. Make the decision to rely on Him. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

May the Lord protect you and deliver you!
