God can calm your storm.

Mark 4:39 And Jesus awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

We read in the book of Mark 4: 35-41, the story of Jesus in a boat with his disciples. He asked them to go to the other side with him and during this crossing a furious squall came up and the waves broke over the boat so severe that it was almost submerged. Problem! During this time Jesus was sleeping in the boat and the disciples seeing their lives were in danger realized they could do nothing despite some of them having experience in navigation. They woke up Jesus and said to him: Master, don’t you care if we are perishing? He arose, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea: Peace! Be still! And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Jesus Christ calmed the storm because He is the God who controls the circumstances.

We can compare our life to a boat that travels on the seas of this world. During our crossings our life could face strong wind and big waves. (Sickness, unemployment, failure, disappointment, incomprehension…….) Is Jesus Christ in your boat of life? The disciples were afraid. To human eyes it was normal that they were afraid. But for Jesus it was the opposite. He said to them: Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith? What He meant was “I’m in the boat, I’m in control even when you see me sleeping. You should place your faith in me. I have the power to calm storms.” Whatever your storm is invite Jesus Christ to come aboard in your boat of life and let him be the Captain, placing all your trust in him. Revelation 3:20. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If any man hears my voice and opens the door, I come in and eat with that person, and him with me.

Count on God to calm your storm.

Amen.
